This is my story
I've been writing and performing music of one flavor or another since my teens, which means a very long time, but the music that really made me who I am was the traditional folk and singer-songwriter music of the sixties and seventies and perhaps the extensive collection of show tunes my parents had on vinyl. This did not preclude my developing a parallel interest in classical music: I earned a bachelor of arts degree in music from the University of Southern California before moving on to the east coast and, after a few twists and turns, a career as a nurse practitioner.
All that time I was playing in bands, duos and as a solo performer in southern California and after that, Connecticut and New York, until being waylaid by a wooden boat (if you’ve ever owned one you understand).
After a fifteen year hiatus, I have again been playing out for the past several years, mainly in Connecticut but with the odd foray to the west coast. The "re-emerging artist", as it were.
I write in a lot of genres: jazzy American-Songbook style songs, new bluegrass tunes, sea-songs, a cowboy tune or two and, of course, straight-up folk, performed on the guitar, banjo, and the occasional odd bit of button accordion. If there is a piano handy, I might just pull out a Scott Joplin rag.
I now live in the last rural smidgeon of Hamden, Connecticut, but I am happy to travel to anywhere that makes sense financially and/or personally.
If you are considering booking me at your venue, know that I will do my level best to put on a show that you and your audience will enjoy. I have had pretty good luck with this so far.
A couple of things:
I play almost exclusively my own, original, music.
I only play listening rooms (that is, I don't do background music).
Please keep this in mind if you want me to play for you.
That being said, I hope to see you soon and we can make some music together.
